Golden Brown Algae Report Update
As part of our effort to judge if household wastewater could be a source of nutrients driving the proliferation of algae (GBA) on the lake floors in our area, we have checked groundwater for human-associated compounds in samples collected in 2016. Here is the report of that study: Final 2016 GBA Human Markers Present in Torch Lake Groundwater Samples. The study does show conclusively that some materials from household wastewater do, indeed, find their way into groundwater seeping into the lake floor but does not prove that human-source nutrients are also present.
