Great Lakes and Mississippi River Interbasin Study Report
The following information may be of interest to our friends and members, even though it is not directly part of the TLA mission:
A long awaited report from the Army Corps of Engineers has been released identifying options to stop the spread of Asian carp and other invasive species between the Great Lakes and Mississippi River waterways. Called the “Great Lakes and Mississippi River Interbasin Study Report,” or GLMRIS report, it provides information and data we need on the financial and environmental costs of different options for dealing with Asian carp and other invasive species moving between the Great Lakes and Mississippi River waterways.
A number of public meetings have been scheduled to review the GLMRIS report. All meetings will run from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM, local time. Note: a webinar will also be available during the Chicago meeting on January 9th and the Ann Arbor meeting on January 21st for interested parties who cannot make it to a meeting. Details on all of the meetings will be posted to the GLMRIS web site.
